In Part 2 of our series “How To Drive Massive Traffic From Free Traffic Sources, we discussed in some detail what I call the Social Seven and how to leverage social media as well as some more pro tips and links to help you take full advantage of that strategy.

Today, in part three of our series, I’m going to discuss web 2.0, which has been something of an undefined phenomenon in online marketing strategies and just how you can drive targeted traffic to your business, product/service or opportunity.

How To Drive Massive Traffic From Free Traffic Sources: The Wild, Wild Web (2.0)

Web 2.0 is a term that is used to describe a website that builds around user activity, specifically allowing for, and encouraging the site user to interact with the site by adding content.

To drive massive traffic, you must put your content where people can be found in large numbers, or create a place for people to congregate.

A great example is a blog where users can submit comments related to the content. Many sites have taken it a step further and created their own platforms where users can create entire sites and whole pages.

This is a list of the most trafficked destinations that allow you to create pages with very little technical skills required. The benefit is that they all have relatively high page ranks, and if used correctly, can boost the effectiveness of all of your marketing.

Now before you get to posting content on these sites, here are some guidelines to follow.

1. Post unique content: Remember what was said about how search engines will sometimes omit entirely or compact results with similar content? For this purpose, I highly recommend that you recycle your content so that when you post information, it says the same thing, but in different ways.

It is a lot of work; however the extra effort is worth it when someone searches for a topic and see several items pointing back to you instead of just one – one of my personal favorite strategies to drive massive traffic!

2. Link back to your profiles: Remember that list of profiles you were copying to notepad? This is where you use those. Each of these sites allows you to post more than one URL back to your content so you can drive massive traffic in much larger numbers.

Whenever you see a site that allows you to post multiple URLs, do it, linking to your main website first as part of your profile. Many of these sites, by default link back to your social profiles as a point of contact because they are trusted, especially your Facebook profile.

3. Update weekly: Make it a point to update these sites weekly. The hardest part is completing the setups. Once that is done and the profiles are 100% complete, all you have to do is take the time to update once or twice a week.

This is best done by creating a weekly schedule where you update just a few pages every day, and by the end of the week, all pages are updated at least once per week.

4. Big names are important: You’ll notice a start next to Squidoo.com and Blogger.com. While it is very important that you get all of the sites below into your platform, Squidoo.com is a very special beast and Blogger.com is owned by Google.

Squidoo.com allows you to create lenses or micro blogs about different topics and allow you to add content like RSS feeds from your blog, videos from various networks and more.

Pay close attention to Squidoo.com and Blogger.com. They are important!

Here now is the list of the best performing web 2.0 sites, (from experience). All of these sites I’ve used to drive massive traffic, and still use today!

PRO TIP: Blogs are very important for aggregating your content across the web, but so are forums! In the list above you will see Yahoo! Answers listed. They are just one forum out of many that people visit when seeking answers.

Again, the same concept applies to forums as they do for social media and local listings. Become a member of forums relating to your market and offer assistance and help other members. This is another one of my personal favorite strategies to drive massive traffic.

NOTE: Forums are moderated, meaning that administrators are often on the lookout for things like spamming, blatant advertising, and more and removing that content and suspending, closing or banning user accounts that violate their standards.

The best way to promote yourself in a forum is to create a signature linking back to your main website and using a catchy headline or quote to attract attention.
Also, or your “About” section, some sites won’t allow you to put a URL in that area, so I use a “see signature” clause instead. Some moderators, to be quite honest are stuck up and a bit retentive sticklers about even that much, however don’t let them ruin your day. Just keep helping others.

PRO TIP 2: How do you find the right forums? It’s simple. Just open your browser and do a Google search for them. If you’re into internet marketing, try searching for “Internet marketing forums” or something similar.

The bottom line is that interaction builds authenticity, reputation, and trust, which in turns increases your exposure and cash flow – a result of learning how to drive massive traffic.
